English Language Arts
Our English classrooms are inviting and exciting spaces to share ideas, be creative, and learn more about ourselves and others.
The English Language Arts curriculum is all about building the skills that lead to a successful life both inside and outside of school.
Mac students get to showcase these skills through a variety of activities - there is truly something for everyone! English class is where Mac students get to explore both classic and contemporary novels, try their hand at creative writing, work through real-world Design Thinking projects, and participate in our renowned Storytelling and Public Speaking events.

Storytelling & Public Speaking
Public speaking skills are incredibly important, and we pride ourselves on how we develop those skills at Mac. Each year, the Grade 7 and 8 students voted as being the best storytellers will compete to be crowned Storytelling Champion.
Grade 9, 10, and 11 students compete in a Public Speaking tournament, where finalists will deliver their speeches on stage in front of peers, teachers, and guest judges (often local celebrities!)
Stratford Theatre Festival
Each fall, Grade 10 and 11 students have the opportunity to attend three plays at the Stratford Theatre Festival in Stratford, Ontario. Not only do students get to see some of North America's highest-caliber theatre productions, but they also take part in a few backstage experiences, such as having a photoshoot at the impressive costume gallery, and getting a behind-the-scenes tour of the theatre.
