Leadership
Leadership is a program that is an option for grades 9, 10 and 11 students. The focus of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication, leadership, and service to others in the school and community. It recognizes that the students must understand the concept of leadership and must be able to lead themselves before they can be an effective leader for others.
This course is designed to provide students with opportunities to grow as people and to learn to work with others. Throughout the year, the Leadership students are responsible for creating, organizing, and executing a large majority of student life activities and events, such as Mac Camp, Spirit Weeks, Terry Fox Day, school dances, movie nights, Staff vs. Student games, awareness campaigns, fundraisers for local, national and international charities, talent show, coffee house, The Mac Humanitarian Project and much more. Using Student Life activities as a hands-on learning vehicle, students develop their Leadership skills while providing the Macdonald High School community with both unique and traditional events.
