Social Studies /
Sciences Humaines

From the ruins of Çatalhöyük to 21st century population movements, students at Mac cover a variety of topics designed to make them better citizens of the world. The social studies programs at Mac are offered in both French and English.

Our department works collaboratively to plan exciting and engaging lessons where students can interact with different materials and sources.

Aside from a well-developed curriculum, students have the opportunity to visit different cultural and heritage sights across Quebec and Ontario each year. See you there!

Field Trips

Each year, Mac offers students in grade 7 and 8 a variety of field trips to sights in and around Montreal. Outings include the Science Centre, Beauharnois Generating Station, and Pointe-à-Callière.

Grade 9 students visit Quebec City where they take a tour of the Citadel, walk through the upper and lower town, and view the Montmorency Falls.

Grade 10 students travel to the nation's capital and visit the parliament buildings, the Rideau Canal, the ByWard Market, the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum.
